“The idea eventually is to have somewhere where people in Paisley, my home town, in bands that are starting up can come and make their demos and hopefully I can help out.

“I’m trying to get some people down, some different bands and see if they find it a good place to record.”

Family, fans and former colleagues paid tribute to Malcolm McLaren.

The former Sex Pistols and New York Dolls manager passed away yesterday in New York at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer.

In a message on his official website, Pistols frontman John Lydon said: “For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that. Above all else he was an entertainer and I will miss him, and so should you.”

Jon Savage, author of 1991’s punk history England’s Dreaming, said: “Without Malcolm McLaren there would not have been any British punk. He’s one of the rare individuals who had a huge impact on the cultural and social life of this nation.”

Vivienne Westwood (McLaren’s former partner) added: “When we were young and I fell in love with Malcolm, I thought he was beautiful and I still do. I thought he is a very charismatic, special and talented person. The thought of him dead is really something very sad.”

Rest in peace Malcolm, our thoughts are with your family and loved ones at this troubled time.

Rage Against The Machine have reportedly asked Susan Boyle to perform with them this summer.

The band are playing a free gig at London’s Finsbury Park on June 6 after their single ‘Killing In The Name’ won the Christmas No.1 spot last year ahead of X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s ‘The Climb’.

Frontman Zack de la Rocha said: “I really hope there are no hard feelings with Simon [Cowell]. He seemed to think that it was a bullying campaign but the truth is the British people wanted a change. I don’t think anybody has heard anything of that Joe guy since Christmas, but we have nothing against him. The truth is Simon’s shows occasionally produce talent. We love Susan Boyle, she is hot. To show there are no hard feelings we would like her to perform with us on stage this summer. She is a great vocalist and we would love to perform ‘Killing In The Name’ with her. Everybody knows her in the US and she can add her vocals to anything. It would be an honour for us.”

I hope Susan accepts their offer as I would really like to hear her take on Killing in the name. Bet it will be awesome.
